dog goblins are my best friends
coming here after playing rpg sketch 6, i am *fascinated* by this one. upon finding my first sheep, i chuckled realizing what the point of those forests that popped an encounter with a highly durable Goat Eater every tile was. I think this is a really interesting idea! plotting your route out with a new context in mind was a fun prospect.
in execution the overall encounter rate ended up putting me off, though. they added the puzzle component but they were also a huge pace killer - it felt like i couldn't get a good scan of map, which probably would have been alleviated with the smaller map size suggested in the notes.
this makes me curious what this concept would look like fully realized, so thank you for putting this idea out...!
this game knows playing a rpg is figuring out where all the guys live
S rank get... I rate it "goated, boggers, and rejected from smwcentral".
To comment more seriously, despite your worries I think you very well captured what you were going for with this one.
The balancing is off but I don't expect that level of polish from a one hour project lol.
Your games are always inspiring with how they evoke feeling through minimalist gameplay ideas and this one is no exception... learning the lay of the land and its inhabitants to find a relatively safe path, that's good stuff!
trying to shepher around myriad bogs... I'm sure irish rural folks of previous centuries would point at the screen and go 'yeah, that's how it is!'. It took me a bit to understand what the game was going for, but I had some fun once it clicked, though I never really developped a feel for what terrain was really worth avoiding and ended up bumbling around more than anything else. I didn't get a very good grade...
In the bog fight almost in mobile the fight menú crash with defense option. The rest went well, although I hadn't tried that option.
oh, that's interesting. i'll look into that, and if i can manage to recreate it i'll pass it along to the easyrpg people. thanks for letting me know
You're welcome, my friend. I invite you to check out some sprite packs I posted and delete my comment, of course.
